For Annual Crops
How to plant two or more crops in the same field in the same season is a commonly asked question.
If you are wanting to plant a second crop in the same field, one crop after the other in the same season (crops in series), then you need to go to this article.
If you are planting two or more crops that will be growing together in the field (crops in parallel), then this article below is the one to read.
Put simply, you just need to record 2 or more separate planting events and ensure that you enter the correct worked and cropped area each time. agCommander will take care of the remaining un-cropped area for you.
The Steps ...
Either go to the Season view in the Cropping Module and on the Summary of Events tab ... (or the Diary View)

Click the +Job button to create a Actual record and select Crop Planting as the task.
NOTE: You can also add the planting event in the Daily Diary View as well. On the Diary view, click on the "Add" button.
Either way, you will see the Form displayed below

Step 1. Select Area to plant crops
Click the select Areas button to select the field where the two or more crops are to be planted in.

Then edit the Worked Area in which the planting will occur, this can be done two ways:
1. Manually edit the work area using the edit icon.

2. Optionally ... Draw the worked area on the field map (be sure to look at this article link to setup field/paddock maps)

Step 2. Select crop to plant
Click the Crop types button to select the crop type (or types if you plan to plant two or more crops within one job).

Choose from list of crops-varieties (e.g. we select Barley).

Upon saving the job, you should see the crop under the field/paddock list as below:

To record a second and any subsequent crop that you need to plant in the rest of the field or a sub-area of rest of the field
When creating the second crop planting job, you will need to start like in step 1 selecting the same field or paddock.
Note: The worked area available will be whatever is left uncropped after the first planting job.

Adjust the Worked area and cropped area (optional) as below:

Like step two, enter the second crop (and any other extra crops) as below:

The second crop should now appear under the selected field.

For Perennial Crops
From the Cropping Module, select configuration side tab and Crops top tab. Here you will see a list of Crops to the left, and a list of varieties of each crop to the right.

Above the list of Crops (left side) click the add button above to add a crop and ensure the "Is Perennial" is ticked.

Above the varieties list is an Add button to add a crop variety.

Go to the System Setup module and select Farms & Fields then select a Field you want to allocate crops to and go to the Perennial Crop Information tab.

Click the Add button and it will show a dialog like below:

From here add the Perennial Crop information:
- Crop (select from all current or active crops)
- Variety(select from all current or active crop varieties)
- Planting Code (best practice is to use alphanumerics for the code)
- Area (total area in which the crop will cover, ensure the area total entered does not exceed the overall field or paddock area)
- Plant Spacing (space between each individual crop)
- Season Established (Season or year the crop was first planted)
- Season Retired (Season or year which the crop was removed from the field)
If you are operating an Orchard or Vineyard, you will see that additional information can be added on the form shown above.
You will also wee that you can add Row Details
After adding the crop, it will appear as part of a list of crops.
PLEASE NOTE: If you Block or Plot is made up of Sub-Areas of different varieties or different rootstocks, you can add more area (sub-areas) following the same procedure mentioned above.
