Automated Weather Records

in AgCommander you can add weather records to any job in the cropping module.

Simply choose Weather from the "INCLUDE.. section of the Add Form and a the start and end times and the weather information.

There is a much easier way however...

Getting agCommander to Automatically populate your Weather Records needs three simple things

1. You have all your field polygons set up under System Setup > Farms & Fields (see why below)

2. You have enabled Automatic Population of Job Weather Records under Cropping > Options

3. You enter one or more start and end times (only) into Job Weather Records of your jobs when adding (or Editing) a job in the Cropping Module.

There are two modes. If you have an on-farm weather station, follow the instructions relating to your type of weather station. See below, or contact us on [email protected] for help.

The other mode uses either a global weather data provider.
agCommander will find the nearest weather station to your worked areas by calculating the centroid (i.e. the middle Longitude and Latitude) of all the areas involved in a job.

Typically you will only want to record weather records for spray jobs, but agCommander enables you to record weather conditions against any job in the cropping module.

No matter if you enter your jobs in the mobile or the desktop or tablet, simply enter the start and end times (only) of the job into the Weather Records, and agCommander will populate the weather details when your jobs get sent to the cloud.  If there are multiple weather condition types during the job, they will be shown as the system breaks up the time span between your start and stop times into hourly chunks. If your job takes a long time and there are periods of no activity, simply set up several start and stop times as required.

We will be adding functionality to read weather data from on-farm weather stations. As of December 2023 we support the following weather data providers

  • METOS
  • MAIT
  • Wunderground
  • WeatherLink (Davis)
  • Adcon
  • Outpost
  • OzForecast
  • Data Farmer
  • Greenbrain / Landscape SA
  • Harvest.com
  • Ranch
  • Western Australian Dept of Agriculture
  • CSIRO Boorowa Research Station

PLEASE NOTE: Currently, for those of you in Western Australia, agCommander will look for the nearest Dept. of Agriculture weather station and use that for your automated weather records.

Here is an example of what automated weather records look like

Here's where you set the start and end times on the mobile app
