The Inventory of Consumables - Setting up

Setting up and using the Inventory of Consumables can be daunting at first and is one area of the program where failing to use the system correctly can lead to undesirable issues.


To enable the Inventory of Consumables, go to System Settings > Global Settings ... tick the box, click Save
The main toolbar icon for the Inventory will appear. 



There are effectively four possible ways to track your consumables stock on hand. When setting up your consumables in the configuration sections of the cropping and livestock modules, you will be able to elect to track inventory of each consumable using one these possible 


1. Tracking, but not by Batch Number or by Storage Location (ignoring both)

2. Tracking by Batch Number  (ignoring Storage Locations)

3. Tracking by Storage Location (ignoring Batch Numbers) 

4. Tracking by Batch Number and Storage Location 

When you elect to use option 1, the program will maintain the stock levels for those consumables with no user intervention required. You will be able to enter a Batch Number manually when recording applications of consumables with inventory tracking configured in that way.


When you elect to use any of the other tracking methods, you will need to be diligent at data entry time to ensure tracking is maintained as expected.

You will see this panel appear on the data entry form as shown here. Choose the appropriate batch numbers & or locations (or combinations of the two) as appropriate.
