Livestock - Setting up Stock Classes

Please Note: Before you can create stock classes you will need to set up your Livestock Categories and Subcategories

Please watch the videos that cover all facets of setting up livestock options, categories, subcategories and stock classes.

Creating a  stock class

Navigate to Livestock > Configuration > Stock Classes

You create a stock class by identifying it using the characteristics we have already set out:

The Category (Cattle, Sheep…)

The Subcategory (Cull, Flock, XB…)

The sex

The age

The tag colour (optional)

and of course the number in the stock class (the Tally)

Stock class numbers

Once you have identified the stock class, you must then enter the number of animals in it.

A stock class is a dynamic entity. As the years go by the stock class will most likely decrease in numbers. The stock class may also increase in number and this can be done in agCOMMANDER in several ways.

Note that a stock class can hold as many or as few animals as you like. If you have just bought in 3,000 sheep, you might like to create a stock class of 3,000 or create several smaller stock classes adding up to 3,000. And if you have one Billy goat, you might put this into a stock class of one (if you want to keep records about the Billy goat on the computer).
